Amazon Ads Management That Grows Sales Without Wasting Spend
On Amazon, most buyers never scroll past the first page. Sponsored ads help your products get seen, but only careful management keeps the cost of each sale in check.
What is Amazon Ads management and how does it help sellers in India?
Amazon Ads management is the setup and daily care of Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands and Sponsored Display campaigns for sellers on Amazon. It helps Indian sellers show products on top search results, find profitable keywords, cut wasted spend through negative keywords and bid changes, and grow total sales while keeping advertising cost of sales (ACoS) within a target that fits their margins.
Key takeaways
- Fix your listing first: ads cannot save weak images, titles or reviews.
- Start with Sponsored Products, then add Brands and Display.
- Use auto campaigns to find search terms and manual campaigns to control bids.
- Set a target ACoS from your real margin after Amazon fees.
- Add negative keywords every week to stop wasted clicks.
- Watch TACoS to see if ads are lifting organic sales too.
What is Amazon Ads management?
Amazon Ads management means planning, launching and improving paid campaigns inside Amazon Seller Central or Vendor Central. The aim is more sales at a cost your margins can carry.
Amazon is a search engine for buying. When someone types "steel water bottle 1 litre", Amazon shows a mix of sponsored and organic results. Sponsored placements at the top get a large share of attention. If your product is new or has few reviews, ads are often the fastest way to get the first sales that help organic ranking.
SI Marketing manages Amazon Ads alongside your other channels. Many of our clients also sell on their own website, so we plan marketplace ads and ecommerce marketing together, without one cannibalising the other.
Which Amazon ad types should you use?
Most sellers start with Sponsored Products. Brand-registered sellers can add Sponsored Brands and Sponsored Display for more reach and brand recall.
| Ad type | Where it shows | Best use | Needs Brand Registry? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sponsored Products | Search results and product pages | Direct sales of single products | No |
| Sponsored Brands | Top of search with logo, headline and several products | Brand awareness and range showcase | Yes |
| Sponsored Brands video | Video in search results | Showing product use and features | Yes |
| Sponsored Display | Product pages and audiences on and off Amazon | Remarketing and competitor product pages | Yes |
Ad options and eligibility can change, so we check what your account can use during the audit.
How do we set up Amazon campaigns?
We use a simple structure: auto campaigns to discover search terms, manual campaigns to control them, and clear naming so reports are easy to read.
- 1
Account and listing audit
Check titles, images, bullet points, A+ content, price, reviews and stock levels for the products to advertise.
- 2
Margin and target ACoS
Work out profit per unit after Amazon fees, shipping and GST to set a target ACoS for each product.
- 3
Keyword research
Find search terms from auto campaigns, competitor listings, Amazon's search bar and brand analytics if available.
- 4
Campaign structure
Separate auto, exact match, phrase match and product targeting campaigns, grouped by product or category.
- 5
Launch with controlled bids
Start with moderate bids and budgets, then adjust based on data.
- 6
Weekly optimisation
Move winning search terms to exact match, add negatives, change bids and pause poor products.
We follow the same careful approach we use for PPC management on Google and Microsoft Ads.
What is ACoS and what is a good ACoS?
ACoS is ad spend divided by ad sales. A good ACoS is one that stays below your break-even point for each product, and that number is different for every seller.
How to find your break-even ACoS
- Take the selling price.
- Subtract product cost, Amazon referral fee, closing fee, shipping or FBA fees and GST.
- What is left is your profit before ads.
- Divide that profit by the selling price. This percentage is your break-even ACoS.
During a launch, you may accept a higher ACoS for a few weeks to build sales history and reviews. For mature products, we aim below break-even so ads add profit.
How to reduce wasted spend on Amazon Ads
Most waste comes from irrelevant search terms, bids that are too high on weak products and ads running on items that are low on stock.
- Review search term reports every week and add negative keywords
- Lower bids on keywords with many clicks and no sales
- Pause ads on products that are out of stock or have poor ratings
- Use placement bid adjustments only where data supports it
- Separate brand keywords from generic keywords to see true performance
- Check that the Buy Box is yours before increasing spend
- Do not let one hero product eat the whole budget without review
Auto campaigns
- Find new search terms quickly
- Need little setup
- Good for new products
Manual campaigns
- Full control over keywords and bids
- Better for scaling winners
- Need more management time
Why your Amazon listing matters as much as ads
Ads bring clicks, but your listing turns those clicks into orders. A weak listing makes every click more expensive.
- Clear main image on a white background that meets Amazon's rules
- Extra images: size, use, details, what is in the box
- Title with the main search phrase, brand, key feature and size
- Bullet points that answer buyer questions plainly
- A+ content for brand-registered sellers
- Competitive price and fast delivery option
- Genuine reviews: never offer incentives for positive reviews, which breaks Amazon policy

Amazon Ads vs Google Shopping vs Meta: which is better?
They serve different buyers. Amazon Ads catch shoppers ready to buy on Amazon, Google Shopping sends buyers to your site, and Meta creates new demand.
| Channel | Buyer intent | Who owns the customer | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Amazon Ads | Very high, already on a shopping site | Amazon | Marketplace sales and ranking |
| Google Shopping | High, searching for a product | You (on your website) | Own store sales and data |
| Meta Ads | Lower, discovery while scrolling | You, if sent to your site | New launches and brand building |
Many brands use all three. Read about our Google Ads and D2C brand marketing services to plan the full mix.
How to plan Amazon Ads for sale events
Prepare stock, listings and budgets two to three weeks before big sale events, because competition and click costs rise during these days.
- Check stock levels so ads do not run on products that may sell out
- Raise daily budgets in steps so campaigns do not stop by afternoon
- Use deals and coupons only where your margin can carry them along with ad cost
- Run Sponsored Brands on your range to catch shoppers browsing many options
- Bring bids and budgets back to normal after the event ends
- Review results by product so you know what to push next time
The weeks after a big sale often have lower competition. This can be a good time to test new keywords at lower cost.
What affects the cost of Amazon Ads management?
Our fee depends on ad spend, number of products and marketplaces, and how much listing work is needed. You get a clear quote after a free call.
- Monthly ad spend on Amazon
- Number of ASINs and categories
- Whether you are brand registered and need Sponsored Brands and Display
- Listing and A+ content work
- Number of marketplaces (Amazon.in and other countries)
- Reporting needs
Click costs are set by Amazon's auction and change with competition and season. Festive sales like Diwali usually see higher competition.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much should I spend on Amazon Ads in India?
There is no fixed amount. Start with a test budget you can afford to lose while learning, spread across your best products. After a few weeks, you will see which search terms bring sales at an acceptable ACoS. Then increase budget on those. Your budget should grow with profit, not just with sales. We suggest a starting budget after checking your category and margins.
What is a good ACoS on Amazon India?
A good ACoS is one below your break-even point, which depends on your margin after Amazon fees, shipping, product cost and GST. A product with high margins can carry a higher ACoS than a low-margin product. During launches, a higher ACoS can be acceptable for a short time to build sales history. We set targets product by product.
Do I need Brand Registry to run Amazon Ads?
No. Sponsored Products ads are open to most sellers without Brand Registry. But Sponsored Brands, Sponsored Brands video and Sponsored Display usually need Brand Registry. Brand Registry also gives access to A+ content and better brand protection, so it is worth getting if you own a trademark.
Why are my Amazon ads getting clicks but no sales?
Common reasons are irrelevant search terms, a weak main image, a high price compared to competitors, few or poor reviews, slow delivery, or losing the Buy Box. Check your search term report for poor matches and add negatives. Then compare your listing with the top sellers for the same search and fix the gaps.
How long does it take for Amazon Ads to work?
You see clicks and data from the first days. It usually takes a few weeks to collect enough data to find winning search terms and cut waste. Organic ranking benefits from ad sales over a longer period. Most accounts become stable after one to three months of steady optimisation.
Can you manage Amazon Ads and my Shopify store ads together?
Yes. Managing both together helps avoid bidding against yourself and lets us plan which products to push on Amazon and which on your own store. Our parent team, Shivah Web Tech, is also a Shopify Partner, so we can support store improvements as well.
Do you work with Amazon Vendor Central accounts?
We mainly work with Seller Central accounts, which most Indian brands and sellers use. If you are on Vendor Central, tell us on the free call. We will review your setup and tell you honestly whether we are the right fit.
